Meeting Minutes
July 9, 2009
Present:
- Dudley Fetzer President (First Bank Richmond)
- Gary Arndts Vice President (Marketing & Creative Services)
- Jane Holman Executive Director, Ex Officio (WayNet.org)
- Pam Merchanthouse (Friends Fellowship Community)
- David Burton (Burton & Simkin Attorneys)
- Richard Peterson (Porter Advertising, LLC)
- Tim Love (Reid Hospital)
- Bill Pendley (Potter’s Wheel Bed & Breakfast)
- Beth Fields (Wayne County Government)
Call to Order:
President Dudley Fetzer called the meeting to order at 12:00 pm
in the Richmond Power and Light Auditorium.
The meeting minutes from the May 14, 2009
board meeting were presented for approval. David Burton so moved.
Pam Merchanthouse seconded. The motion unanimously approved.
Old Business:
The balance
sheet was distributed and discussed. Mrs. Holman pointed out
that membership remains consistent, and July is usually the biggest
membership billing month. Mr. Love motioned to accept the Balance
Sheet as presented. Gary Arndts seconded the motion and it passed
unanimously.
New Business:
Executive Director’s
Report:
Jane Holman delivered the Executive Director’s Report and reviewed
projects relating to advertising and community relations such as our
local EDC, Community Connections show, and purchasing an ad in the
county map.
Mrs. Holman asked for the Board’s input regarding the annual
meeting, and whether it should be held in the evening so public
could attend, and if it should be advertised. Mr. Pendley motioned
to hold the annual meeting on Thursday, September 10th at 12:00
noon. Tim Love seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
Next, Mrs. Holman invited the board to give their input regarding
the next step for WayNet and to offer suggestions as to how she
should concentrate her efforts. Mr. Fetzer said he felt we have
ample links, and it may be good to make personal contacts with our
members a priority. Mr. Love suggested that it is time for a
redesign of the site, and perhaps a weekly feature item may be
interesting, and felt a redesign of the site is more important than
exploring social networking areas. Mr. Arndts thought it could be
positive to highlight WayNet Members, and went on to discuss the
best ways to use the web page, location of important information and
those items that are most frequently used. Mr. Burton suggested
marketing WayNet at Civic events, such as local fairs, Taste of
Wayne County, and Mr. Arndts added that we could actually use the
WayNet site to market WayNet.
Adjournment:
Being no further business Beth Fields motioned to adjourn the
meeting, seconded by Richard Peterson, and the meeting adjourned at
1:00 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Beth Fields
