Annual Chamber of Commerce Farm Tour

In 2008, the annual farm tour held by the Richmond Wayne County Chamber of Commerce featured local educational explorations accomplished by the Lincoln High School Agriculture Science Department in Cambridge City, Indiana.

Students explained the process of growing hydroponic tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers, spring flower production, aquaculture production – raising Tilapia in recirculating systems containing 7,000 gallons of water and aquaponics – growing lettuce with water from the aquaculture systems.

Students explained the process of growing tomatoes hydroponically, that is using a nutrient-rich water solution and Perlite - no soil is involved.

Chamber members learned about the agricultural classes efforts in growing annuals as well as hydroponic tomatoes.

The Lincoln High Agricultural Department is experimenting with Aeroponics as well as Hydroponics, as this student demonstrates the variations.
