Annual Board Meeting Minutes - September 16, 2021

Present:

  • Jenie Lahmann, President (Morrisson-Reeves Library, InSites Web Design)
  • Bridget Hazelbaker (Richmond Community Schools)
  • Lynn Knight, Secretary (Community Member)
  • Karen Seal (Friends Fellowship Community)
  • Tim Love (Reid Health)
  • Gillis King (3 Rivers)
  • Richard Peterson (Porter Advertising, LLC)
  • Dakota Collins (Earlham College)
  • Jane Holman (Executive Director, WayNet.org, Ex-Officio)

Call to Order:

President Jenie Lahmann called the meeting to order at 12:02 p.m.

President, Jenie Lahman shared that Waynet is going into our 25th year. Some specifics about Waynet were shared by Jenie:

  • Waynet started in 1997.
  • Jenie reminded us of the Mission for Waynet – To serve as our community's resource for complete and positive information that inspires engagement, awareness and celebration. ~ adopted October 2019
  • Jane Holman has been our only director of Waynet since its beginning.
  • Morrison Reeves has always been a partner with Waynet.
  • Waynet started with a grant, which was before Google and social media.
  • It was brought up if we could look at funding support from State or Local Government agencies, since that is where the initial grant came from.
  • It was suggested that maybe look at Alison Zajdel to see if she is aware of grants Waynet might apply.

Old Business

Reviewed Minutes from the last meeting: August 19, 2021

Call for motion to approve by: Bridget Hazelbaker. Seconded by: Dakota Collins and approved by Board.

New Business:

Block Vote made that the following would serve 2 more years as Board members:

  • Jenie Lahmann
  • Lynn Knight
  • Richard Peterson
  • Gillis King

Block Vote made for the following Board Officers for the next year:

  • President: Jenie Lahmann
  • Vice President: Dakota Collins
  • Secretary: Lynn Knight

Call for motion to approve by: Tim Love
Seconded by: Bridget Hazelbaker and approved by Board.

Balance Sheet Review

  • Income: $4,645.00
  • Expenses: $1,564.91
  • Balance: $14,051.81
  • Projected year-end balance to be around $15,000.00

Call for vote to approve by: Richard Peterson, Seconded by: Gillis King and approved by Board.

Cashflow Projection

No concerns were stated by Jane. It was suggested that Bridget Hazelbaker would reach out to Northeastern regarding becoming a member.

Director's Report

Jane will be out for a family matter on and off in October. She will still monitor emails but not in the office.

Jane shared we have a new member: 5H Fellowship by Hoot Williams.

Social media pages have had more hits as Jane has been able to do more photos lately. The web site gets more hits than social media due to people doing online web searches for things Wayne County.

Projects

  • Jane shared that Karen Seals has been added to Board page.
  • Confirmed IvyTech paying their past and current membership fee.
  • Jenie and Jane worked together on the Board Officers for the Annual Meeting.
  • Jane shared she still has 52.5 hours of vacation time available. She is asked for an extension before she uses it or loses it.
  • Jane plans to use sick time for the family health issue.
  • Jane shared that although she will be out for health related family matter that the Board is welcome to call her if necessary.

Updates Since Last Meeting

None were addressed.

With no further business to discuss, meeting was adjourned at 12:41 p.m. Call for motion to approve by Bridget Hazelbaker, seconded by Dakota Collins and approved by the board.
