Call to Order:
President Gary Arndts called the meeting to order at 12:07 p.m.
in the Richmond Power and Light Conference Room.
Old Business:
Gary explained that it was decided to call some of the members of
Waynet to see how they would react to the IRS status change being
considered. After Gary received some negative feedback about the
change in membership status. It appeared that the change would not be
appreciated by our present members. The issue was having to list all
businesses, not just the paying members. The members also said that
they consider the WayNet membership as an advertising fee. Changing
the status to a “donation” basis could cause difficulties in having
the monies available from a different account. Jane and Jodi also
reported that the non-profit contacts they had made did not seem to
mind the change.
After much discussion, Gary recommended that the Board consider
stopping the process for making the IRS change.
Jodi moved that the Board drop the process to make the IRS change.
Seconded by Bill Pendley. Motion carried.
Gary commented that we need to do a better job of marketing WayNet. It
was also decided that those members who had been contact during the
survey, be contacted again to thank them for their input. They should
also be assured that the IRS status change was dropped.
Gary also suggested that the Board brainstorm about some new ideas to
fund WayNet.
Adjournment:
Meeting adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
Jodi Johnson
Secretary
