Waynet Board Meeting
July 25, 2002

Present:

12:00 Noon - Call to Order; introductions, Chris Hardie presiding.

Minutes of the previous meeting, April 25, 2002. Approved on motion of Jim Buckler, and E. Thomas Kemp, second.

Old Business

Review of budget performance for 2002. The budget appears to be on target with income slightly ahead of budget and expenses slightly under budget.

New Business

Executive Director's report

Membership: Membership changes included the addition of Cambridge City Public Library, Youth As Resources, Birth-to-Five, and the loss of Commercial Printing and Arthritis Foundation

Advertising/Marketing/Outreach -

Radio, newspaper, direct mail, Richmond Symphony Orchestra's program, did educational session at Uptown Richmond's Cybercamp.
Obtained ownership of waynet.com

New program/content -

New calendar, Help the Animals website, local calendars page that serves as directory of calendars of local organizations, posted 1863 map of Wayne County.
Step Ahead Council and WayNet have developed a joint project to get all small not-for-profit organizations onto the WayNet site. This will provide a directory of service organizations.

Use of WayNet:

Log files continue to show the growth in the use of WayNet as a resource.

Committee Reports

Technology Committee - Issue of purchase of servers remains on the table. Currently our vendor for server service is stable. The Committee is monitoring performance and as long as server performance remains stable we would not pursue purchase and operation of our own server.
Marketing/Public Relations - report
Mission/Programs - Tom Kirk reported Tom Kirk, moved, Bill seconded, approved.

Discussion: Voting Procedures for the WayNet Web Awards

Jane Holman encouraged Board members to submit nominations for Web Awards. She announced that the same voting procedures will be used.

Discussion: Set a date & plan for our annual meeting.

President Chris Hardie will send out e-mail message to find satisfactory date. In the course of the conversation we agreed that some bylaw changes are in order. Board member E. Thomas Kemp will prepare some wording for the changes that are needed.

Discussion: Appoint a committee to review Board openings.
