Issues & Projects for January / February / March

  • Continue research on best ways to use T-Sheets Time Reporting.
  • Follow up with missing Parallax payment - stop payment/reissued.
  • February/March Invoices
  • Ivy Tech is now a Business Level Member, removed Sponsor level benefits.
  • Update spreadsheet for Log Summary to include 2018.
  • Donated 2 photos to MRL for print use in the Tiffany Reading Room.
  • Used 2 Vacation Days, 1 Sick Day
  • Noted slow, buggy response on computer, along with noisy hard drive. on 2/15. Had Michael Sweigart diagnose on 2/20 as failed hard drive. Could not get it to respond in order to mirror the drive. Michael installed a new hard drive & returned computer on 2/27. Worked from home during downtime. ($189.74 for hard drive & labor) Had to reinstall all software from scratch / data was backed up.
  • Still having difficulties reinstalling Access 97 - these are files I use to manage our list of members' data.
  • Purchased a 4Tb portable hard drive so there would be room for backups from Macrium Reflect (a bootable version) so hopefully we can get back up & running sooner if this happens again.
  • In addition to missing Access, there are still several quirky things that pop up. Can't update calendar in Firefox or Chrome - but works in IE. Twitter widget doesn't show in Firefox or Chrome, but works on my phone.
  • Battery Backup died. Found suitable replacement at Interstate Battery for ~$27. Should we replace?
  • Found unauthorized used of one of our photos on the EIRPC website. Contacted Jeff Plaster who said he would pay the usage fee.
  • Small issues pop up from time to time - such as a need to find/reinstall an FTP program. Things I don't use often, but must set up again as the need arises.

Nonsecure Collection of Passwords will trigger warnings in Chrome 56 for http://waynet.org/

    To: owner of http://waynet.org/

Beginning in January 2017, Chrome (version 56 and later) will mark pages that collect passwords or credit card details as "Not Secure" unless the pages are served over HTTPS.

The following URLs include input fields for passwords or credit card details that will trigger the new Chrome warning. Review these examples to see where these warnings will appear, and so you can take action to help protect users' data. The list is not exhaustive.

The new warning is the first stage of a long-term plan to mark all pages served over the non-encrypted HTTP protocol as "Not Secure".

Here's how to fix this problem:

Use HTTPS pages to collect sensitive information
To prevent the "Not Secure" notification from appearing when Chrome users visit your site, move collection of password and credit card input fields to pages served using the HTTPS protocol.

Note that our unique visits are down significantly, likely due to our site being "dinged" by Google for not being "mobile-friendly".

    Historical Background

The figures that were formerly in this section were created from the statistics generated by the AWStats program offered online by our web host.

One of the major changes that occurred when AMHosting moved our site to a new server was that we no longer have access to AWStats, the statistics program we used for years.

The downside is that we can no longer compare apples to apples when looking at our historical data. The good news is that we have had Google Analytics set up on the site for some time, so we can still maintain a long-term overview by looking at this service.
