Advertising/Marketing/Community Relations

Presented to Rotary Club on 1/22/2008.
KICKS96 promotion - "Exclusive Partner" on KICKS96 community calendar (supplied by WayNet.org), 20 mentions/month and 5 -:30 promos per week. $125/month 1/08-12/08 - 11/07 & 12/07 Free. (Update - we now have a large graphic. They have not charged as of yet. Likely are not doing "mentions", only featuring "Events on the WayNet.org Community Calendar".)
Ongoing: Sidebar ad on the Palladium-Item web site. $175/month for 12 months. Contract ended on 2/17/2008.
Ongoing: Business card size ad in the Centerville News newsletter for 12 months (cost $25 membership + $100/12 ads)

Issues & Projects for January/February/March

Set up new computer, installed programs, transferred files. Wrestled with a small technical noise issue that seems to be fixed for the time being. Received official permission from IU East that they did not need the old computer returned. Packaged & sent to Dell to recycle (free program).
Had to purchase new keyboard ($30) and new printer cable ($20), due to updated connections on the new system.
On 1/24/2008 we received a request to remove the serial number information for the Starr Pianos from the publisher of the book from which this information was gleaned. We quickly complied, while explaining our thoughts on the reason it was not under copyright.
Three times our server has not let us have access to the site, one the site was down entirely. I am beginning to explore other hosting options so that we can take action if this continues.
Met with Marketing committee to discuss marketing plans for 2008.
Create pages & make updates to accommodate "Basic Fee Waiver" membership option approved at the January 2008 meeting.
Explore Google AdSense for those pages that receive high traffic with little local importance. (Policy review on 1/10/2008.)
Website Maintenance:
- Began process to transfer & renew our waynet.com domain from Network Solutions to Summersault, a savings of $43.98 over 2 years.
- Finished a project I began in 2005, converting an old historical brochure for North 10th Street in the Starr District to a web page.
- Uploaded some older (up to 2002) photos to Flickr for easier access.
- Using link checker software, I am slowly reviewing and fixing outdated links.
- Review and update page links & calendar events, as necessary. Take photos.

These figures were created by the AWStats program offered online by our web host.

Monthly figures are now being posted on the Top Twenty page. Current average is 59,855 user sessions per month. Web page views are averaging 146,842. Users sessions increased 24% in January and decreased 4% in February. Page views increased by 17% in January and decreased by 7% in February. A small decrease in users is not unusual for February due to the reduced number of days in the month.

4th Quarter 2007 - Quarterly figures for user sessions increased by 9% from 3rd Quarter after the 9% decrease from the 2nd Quarter of 2007. Page views increased by 3% in the fourth quarter following a 10% decrease in the 3rd Quarter of 2007.

2007 Yearly Figures show a 2% increase to 668,203 users requesting 1,772,590 pages as compared to 657,784 users requesting 1,693,456 pages in 2006. This is a 2% increase in users and a 2% increase in page views over 2006.
