COUNTRY SKIING
If there is at least 4" of snow on the ground, Hayes Regional Arboretum is
available for snowshoe hiking and cross country skiing. Inquire at the
Leafy Loft Gift Shop for our safety guidelines. Snowshoes are available
for check-out free of charge through the Leafy Loft gift shop.

I'VE BEEN WORKING ON THE
RAILROAD!
Would you like to work on a REAL railroad? Classes begin on February 10th for
volunteers at the Whitewater Valley Railroad. Training includes classroom
instruction, hands-on practice in train operations, signaling and switching and
an introduction to diesel and steam locomotive operation.

HOUSES NEEDED!
Genesis, the local shelter for victims of domestic violence, is requesting
birdhouse of all shapes and sizes for its first annual
Festival of Birdhouses which will be held at Hayes Regional Arboretum at the
peak of wildflower season during May 2001, beginning Mother's Day weekend. If
you would like to donate a handcrafted house, new or vintage, or if you want to
commission a birdhouse created by a local artisan, contact the Festival
chairman, Pam Frantz at (765) 962-1489, ext. 223.
