Among the many treasures at the Wayne County Historical Museum is this Cylinder Front Desk made by the Rowlett Desk Company in Richmond, Indiana.  The desk (circa 1865-75) is made of American walnut with burl panels and possess the original finish.

The desk originally belonged to the Hon. Daniel Webster Comstock of Richmond, Indiana.  During the Civil War he served in the 9th Indiana Cavalry.  He was judge of the Wayne Circuit Court and the Indiana Appellate Court.  He served as Wayne County's State Senator from 1878 to 1882 and was elected to the United States House of Representatives in 1916.
